Arsenal players on international duty

With Arsenal players away on international duty this weekend, here are updates on how our players got on for their respective countries recently:

Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny – Giroud scored the opening goal of France’s 3-1 win over Georgia and played the full 90 minutes. Koscielny was an unused substitute.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott – Chamberlain scored England’s second goal in their 8-0 thrashing of minnows San Marino on Friday night. Chamberlain scored his second goal in an England shirt, both goals have come against San Marino. Theo Walcott suffered a groin injury in training on Thursday and therefore will also miss Tuesday’s clash with Montenegro as well as Arsenal’s next game against Reading.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of three Gunners to score on international duty on Friday.

Aaron Ramsey – Ramsey had an lively game last night to say the least. He scored from the penalty spot to equalise for Wales against Scotland before getting sent off late in the game. Wales won 2-1 on the night.

Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal – Cazorla started for Spain in their 1-1 draw at home to Finland. He was replaced at half time though. Monreal was an unused substitute.

Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker – Mertesacker played the entire 90 minutes as the German defence kept a clean sheet in Germany’s 3-0 win over Kazakhstan. Lukas Podolski replaced Julian Draxler in the 19th minute.

Wojciech Szczesny – Szczesny was an unused substitute as Poland lost 3-1 to Ukraine.

Thomas Vermaelen – Vermaelen was booked as Belgium secured an important 2-0 win over Macedonia on Friday night.

Tomas Rosicky – Rosicky came on as a second half substitute as the Czech Republic suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Denmark.
