Vela cools rumours of Arsenal return

Former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela insists he is happy at Real Sociedad after he was linked with a shock return to the Emirates in the media recently.

Vela spent last season on loan at Sociedad before making the switch permanent last summer. He has found games and goals a lot easier to come by than he did whilst he was with the Gunners.

The media reports suggested Arsenal have a buy-back clause in his contract with Sociedad, so if the Gunners ever wanted him back, they could have him at whatever fee was agreed in the contract.

The Mexican international told the Spanish media:

"“Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn’t have the opportunities that I felt I deserved.I am here (at Real Sociedad) and would like to stay here.” – Carlos Vela on reports linking him with a move back to Arsenal"
