Bendtner heading towards Arsenal exit door
By Tom Humphrey
Nicklas Bendtner claims he is close to a permanent move away from Arsenal and is in talks with a number of clubs over a potential transfer.
Bendtner has spent the last two seasons out on loan. He stayed in England in 2011/12, spending the year on loan to Sunderland, before joining Italian champions Juventus on a season-long loan deal last August.
The Danish international finally appears to be leaving the club for good this summer and if they can get him off the wage bill, it will further strengthen the club’s chances of signing top players in the transfer window this year. There were rumours of Bendtner being on £52,000 a week at the club after he signed a new deal in the summer of 2009. That summer saw him change his shirt number to 52, double his previous squad number of 26, but also reportedly because of his new contract at Arsenal.
He has been quoted as saying the following recently:
"“I am talking with five or six clubs at the moment over a permanent transfer.Things are agreed with Arsenal and I will decide which club I sign for in the next two weeks.” – Nicklas Bendtner on a potential transfer away from Arsenal."
It is about time that Bendtner left the club. Denilson, Squillaci, Arshavin and now possibly Bendtner too. There is still plenty of work to do with the likes of Park Chu-Young, Chamakh and Andre Santos, but finally, these names are leaving the club. Plenty of money spared in wages for the club to use on other players, hopefully better players.
