Arsenal’s fixture list 2013/14 – Villa on opening day, followed by Fulham and Spurs
By Tom Humphrey
The Premier League fixtures were announced this morning and Arsenal found who they will kick off the campaign against. The Gunners start at home to Aston Villa before travelling across London to face Fulham at Craven Cottage a week later.
Arsenal will end August with a surprisingly early North London Derby at home to local neighbours Tottenham.
November sees Arsenal host Liverpool and then travel to Manchester United the following week. December has some tricky fixtures with Everton, Man City, Chelsea, West Ham (away on Boxing Day) and Newcastle (away) all in a row during that month.
The Gunners will host newly promoted Cardiff on New Year’s Day.
March is a tricky part of the fixture list with Tottenham (a), Chelsea (a) and Man City (h) in successive weeks. Of course, if Arsenal and/or any of these team’s are involved in cup fixtures around this time, they will inevitably get rescheduled.
Arsenal will finish the season away to Norwich, a game they lost last season. If they are in need of points to qualify for Europe or even seal a title (who knows?!) then they SHOULD be able to win it. But Norwich are a difficult team and if they need points to ensure safety, it certainly wouldn’t be easy.
