Former Arsenal left-back Jernade Meade has signed a one-year deal with Premier League club Swansea. He will originally be part of their under-21 team set up with a view of a switch to the first-team in mind in the future.

Meade left Arsenal in the summer following the expiration of his contract, having been at the club since the age of 11. After completing his move to Swansea, Meade said the following:

"“I’ve been at Arsenal since I was 11, so to come to Swansea was the perfect move for me in terms of style.Swansea are a growing club and they’ve come from League Two by passing their way out of the divisions.I think everyone has been very impressed by what they have achieved in the Premier League, and it’s great to be a part of the club.My aim is to start impressing in the U21 team and hopefully give Michael Laudrup another option at left-back for the first team. He was a great player, and the chance to learn from him is a massive opportunity for me.And he is not afraid to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves either. You only have to look at what Ben Davies achieved last season to realise that.” – Jernade Meade on his move to Swansea. Quotes: Sky Sports"

Meade made 2 appearances for Arsenal last season, including one in the Champions League against Olympiakos.

I’m happy to see him land at another Premier League club as I think he’s certainly got talent and could develop into a very good player. Swansea are a good club to be joining and I wish him all the best there.
