Ian Holloway wants to help rescue Marouane Chamakh’s career at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on a one-year deal. Arsenal are willing to let Chamakh leave on a free transfer in an attempt to get the unwanted Moroccan off of the club’s wage bill.
Chamakh started his Arsenal career very brightly after arriving on a free transfer from Bordeaux in the summer of 2010. However, the return of Robin Van Persie from injury meant that Chamakh lost his place in the team. With that came a loss of form, something he never really recovered from at all.
Palace manager Ian Holloway expects the deal to be confirmed on Monday and he has stated his desire to help rescue Chamakh’s career.
Holloway was quoted as saying the following after Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Lazio:
"“It’s about him getting going again and I normally do all right with people whose careers are faltering.I love them and work with them. Hopefully I can get him back to what he played like when he first went to Arsenal. There was nothing wrong with him when he scored eight in nine. But I wouldn’t fancy being Robin van Persie’s understudy. It couldn’t have been fun.” – Ian Holloway on his hopes of helping Marouane Chamakh rediscover his form at Crystal Palace.
