Arsenal bid £10m for Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye
By Tom Humphrey
Chants of “spend some f*****g money” were loud and clear at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, as the Gunners suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa to kick off their Premier League campaign.
Today, according to the BBC, Arsene Wenger appears to have listened. He has tabled a bid of around £10m for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Whilst it is believed that Newcastle have described the offer as derisory and have / will reject(ed) it, it is certainly Arsenal looking to be active on the market.
If the money suits Newcastle, they could be tempted to sell Cabaye. But they have no genuine need to sell him this summer, so I’d imagine it’d take a large offer to persuade them to sell.
Whilst Cabaye may not arrive at the Emirates (he may still do) at least Arsenal do seem intent on adding to their squad at last. As usual they have left it too late again, but at least deadline day or the couple of weeks leading up to it should be interesting for us Arsenal fans!.
