Transfer Rumour Update: Lukaku and Insigne

facebooktwitterreddit

Only four days away now from the World Cup and the transfer rumours are still flying around thick and fast with yet another striker being linked to Arsenal. I’m not sure there’s many left for Arsenal to be connected with, but I’m sure the World’s media will bring up more names by the end of the summer.

Romelu Lukaku

The Chelsea and Belgium striker has been in wonderful form for the past two years but still hasn’t scored a competitive goal for the club. He has spent all of that time at Everton and West Brom where he proved a valuable asset for both sides. Despite his strong goalscoring record at both clubs it seems that Mourinho has set his sights on signing Diego Costa, which means that Lukaku may be looking for a way out. I don’t know how much interest there is from Arsenal or whether this is a transfer rumour born purely out of Arsenal needing a striker and Lukaku looking to move, but a quality striker who is proven in the Premier League could be just what Wenger is looking for, especially is available at a decent price. It remains to be seen whether Mourinho would sell to Arsenal given his tense relationship with the club, but if he can sell Mata to Manchester United then maybe it could happen.

We reported recently that Wenger was interested in the Napoli left winger Insigne and was going to open the bidding at around 20m euros, but Napoli boss has viewed this bid as a bit of a joke. The dailystar quoted him as saying,” €20m for Insigne I smiled about that. Lorenzo’s evaluation is nearer €60m or €70m.” I’m going to stick my neck out and state that Wenger will not pay this amount, so if this deal is going to go ahead then there needs to be a sharp drop in Napoli’s asking price for the winger.
