Predicted Premier League: 13th

As West Ham occupy 14th in the table and the lowest of the London clubs in the Premier League, another London club makes a decent return to the top flight in 13th spot of our predicted table…

Team: QPR

Manager: Harry Redknapp

The East-end Wheeler-Dealer is back for more in his second spell in the Premier League with QPR, having been with the club during their relegation season in 2012/13. He is renowned for getting the best out of players that others deem to be past it or sub standard. For that reason he seems to thrive in the transfer market as he picks up players no-one else wants and turns them into a decent ream player. This is almost certainly his last club management role so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the challenge this year.

Key Player: Rio Ferdinand

He may not lead the line or even play every match, but the experience a player of Ferdinand’s calibre will bring to a new side coming into the Premier League is invaluable. He will mentor the defense and provide so much experience in the dressing room that QPR could well be safe by early 2015. I think Ferdinand is a great player and a great acquisition for the London side, one that could be the difference between staying up and going straight back down.

Best feature: Experience

QPR have signed a lot of experience during the transfer window and I think it could help them during their first season back in the Premier League, although it could have an extremely negative effect on their next season. The experienced players will get them through tough games and create points on their own, however they could well get tired during the latter parts of the season. If Harry uses the experience correctly, it will be a major boost to their season.

Worst Feature: Lack of future stars

When you come up from the championship there are two things that you need to watch out for. Firstly making sure you survive, but also creating a squad that can gel over the next few seasons or risk facing a second season struggle. QPR don’t have much in the way of young talented players and that could really hurt them towards the end of the season and into the next. Integrating them this season is vital to avoid a lack of consistency over the next few years, so they need to address that problem now.

PIA Writer’s opinions:

BW: “A nice collection of decent talent, however older players on the starting 11 means they may falter come late in the season. 15th”
