Which One, Arsenal – Klaas-Jan Huntelaar or Danny Welbeck?
By Josh Sippie
Well, when you miss out on Falcao and for some reason prefer not to pursue Edinson Cavani, the choices are quite slim, yet any striker is going to be welcomed like a messiah at the Emirates.
It comes down to Danny Welbeck or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, apparently.
Welbeck was sounding like a done deal, he had supposedly had a medical at Arsenal and was already at their facility training with the English National team. But nothing is ever easy when it comes to Arsenal, as the club has outright denied that Welbeck ever had a medical with them.
When Giroud does return, Welbeck can slot out on the wing and provide extra depth.
So with that taking a back seat (with no driver in sight), rumors have popped up out of Germany via the ever-credible source of Twitter claiming that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is in talks to come to Arsenal for 12 million pounds. The Dutch international plays similar to Giroud and would be an ample replacement.
What will happen? Only Arsene knows, and we all know he won’t give us any hints.
Welbeck will cost a reported 18 million for a straight transfer, which is what he wants. He’s only 23 so he could open up the possibility of being a permanent fixture at Arsenal and follow in the footsteps of his idol, Thierry Henry.

I like the prospect of Welbeck. He’s incredibly fast and technically gifted, but he’s also an aerial threat as he’s just as tall as Huntelaar. He would be incredibly useful on the counter attack at outrunning the defense. The criticism of Welbeck is that he’s not a goal scorer, which is what Arsenal need, but he’s never been given the regular opportunity to play as a front man and Arsenal can offer him that.
Huntelaar is obviously an established striker, at 29 years old. He’s much like Giroud, a powerful aerial threat with the ability to shoot effectively as well. He doesn’t have the speed that Welbeck has but he’s cheaper, a more sure-fire option, and can fill in right where Giroud left off.
I’d rather see Welbeck. I prefer the younger players so they have a chance to grow with the team. Plus it would feel god to rub Tottenham’s nose in the deal. And when Giroud does return, Welbeck can slot out on the wing and provide extra depth.
Everyone is waiting on Arsene Wenger.
