What to Make of Marco Reus’ Injury
By Brian Wong
As most of the football world knows by now, Marco Reus is out for up to 4 weeks with another ankle injury. As fans of the sport, we should never be delighted to we see a talent like Reus getting injured. However, given his importance to Borussia Dortmund, Marco Reus’ injury has to be considered positive to an Arsenal team that is about to face the dominant German side in less than 10 days.
So what are we to make of this injury in the world of Arsenal?
First of all, it is clear that the injured Marco Reus has all the prerequisites to be an Arsenal player, he is young, talented and he has an injury bug that just never leaves.

Jokes aside though, Marco Reus’ injury is going to have a huge impact on Arsenal and their Champions League games against Dortmund. Reus is not only amazing dribbling the ball down the flanks, he is also an above average scorer which means that when Arsenal plays Dortmund in a few weeks, there will be one less threat to the Arsenal goal.
More importantly though is how well Marco Reus controls the midfield, his passes are clean and well timed. Furthermore, he can bring the ball up from the back, turning defense into offense very quickly. Reus is a key part to how the Dortmund midfield plays and with his absence, Dortmund’s counter-attacking aspect will not be as effective.
However, Marco Reus’ injury doesn’t make the Dortmund game any easier! Jurgen Klopp is a great manager, and having played against an Arsenal team that rarely changes their style of play, Klopp should be able to create some magic. Plus, Dortmund are at home for the first leg.
It is very hard to win away at Dortmund, but the Reus injury might make things a little easier for the traveling Gunners.
