Yaya Sanogo: “There will be goals for Arsenal”

In the wake of Arsenal’s £16m move for Danny Welbeck, there has been a bit of a fight back from current young star Yaya Sanogo. Obviously taking the move as a lack of faith from Wenger that he would be able to do the job of a top striker on his own, the French striker has promised to step up to the challenge and break his goal-scoring duck for the club.

With the new signing of Danny Welbeck will there be fight back from Yaya Sanogo?

The striker fired in twice for France U-21’s  match against Kazakhstan but is yet to register a competitive goal for the North London side, although there was a massive look at his potential early on in pre-season when he scored 4 goals in the Emirates cup match against Benfica, but so far this season it has proved a lot of hard work for nothing.

Sanogo came back at criticism for his performances stating,

“On all aspects (of my game) I’ve evolved. When you train with great players every day, you progress. When you play big teams, it helps gain experience.

‘The fans expect me to score more, but once the first one goes in they’ll come. At 21, it’s not easy to play striker at Arsenal.

‘You have to fight every day to prove his worth. But Wenger just pushes me to continue my work will eventually pay off.”

Although he’s been the starting striker so far this season, many pundits expect Welbeck to come in and take the starting role from the off, so this seems like an “I’m willing to fight” message from Yaya Sanogo, which is exactly what I want to see from Arsenal players. A lot of players in the Premier League think they simply deserve their place, so to see a young player willing to knuckle down and deliver what is expected of him is a great sign for Arsenal football club.

Obviously the debate rages on about whether Sanogo will be a flop or star, but the more immediate question is who will start? Welbeck or Sanogo?
