Barclays Premier League Predictions (Gameweek 4)

The Premier League is back after the international break and how glad we all are that it is!

Saturday’s Games

Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City

The first game for Arsenal against one of the big teams in the Premier League and arguably the first test of Arsenal’s title credentials. Pellegrini’s outfit will be going for the title again, but slipped up last week against Stoke at the Etihad. Arsenal will no doubt be strengthened by the returns of Kieran Gibbs and Mikel Arteta into the side but top player Aaron Ramsey may be out after injuring himself against Andorra in midweek. I’m not convinced Arsenal have enough to beat city and I am also not convinced that we will lose this game so I’m going for a draw.

Chelsea 3-1 Swansea

In my opinion Chelsea are the most complete team in the Premier league this season and are my favourites to be crowned at the end of the season. Diego Costa is on top form and will most certainly score again in this game and fire them to a comfortable victory against the Swans.

Crystal Palace 1-0 Burnley

2 teams coming up against each other in this game who I think will both go down at the end of the season. Both squads aren’t strong enough to stay up and for me, Palace only stayed up because of Tony Pulis. Palace are a decent side at their own ground and will scrape a victory against Burnley in this fixture.

Southampton 2-0 Newcastle

I’m rooting for Southampton this season as I admire the way they play and how they are trying to rebuild after having such a great season, then losing all their top players. Morgan Schneiderlin is playing like a world class CDM so far this season and I think he will keep a clean sheet along with his defensive compatriots in this game. Newcastle won’t have enough firepower for me to score in this game.

Stoke 0-0 Leicester

I predict this to be a really really boring game. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and predict that Stoke won’t have a shot on target in the whole game. Arsenal were very disappointing against Leicester last week and made them look a better team than they actually are.

Sunderland 0-1 Spurs

Our North London rivals have been in the news this week after having their proposal of sharing a stadium with other clubs rejected by the majority of London clubs. No surprise there… Spurs are never a good side to watch and will just get the victory here to get the Spurs fans over excited about Poch’s new regime.

West Brom 0-2 Everton

The Baggies drew against Southampton last week and I don’t think they’ll be able to repeat or better the result this week. Everton participated in the enthralling 6-3 loss to Chelsea last gameweek and looked impressive upfront and I think they just had an off game in defence and will sure up this week to get the clean sheet.

Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

In the late kick off on Saturday Liverpool take on a side in great from in Aston Villa. With 7 points from 3 games they have definitely exceeded their expectations so far but Liverpool will just have too much pace and counter attacking prowess for Villa to handle. Raheem Sterling has been at the centre of media attention and he will look to impress again in this game.

Sundays Game

Manchester United 2-0 QPR

I think it is safe to say that all of us Non-United supporters are absolutely loving laughing at United every week but I think this week United fans will have the last laugh as they will be able to field a stronger team this week due to players returning from injury, work permits being granted in Marcos Rojo’s case and of course the deadline day deals of Falcao and Blind. United have strengthened well but not in the right areas for me – but will have just too much for ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp’s team.

Mondays Game

Hull 2-2 West Ham

The final game in gameweek 4 will provide an entertaining draw on MNF with both teams having plenty of chances. West ham did very well in the transfer window and did excellent landing ex-Gooner Alex Song on loan from Spanish giants Barcelona. They also added Morgan Amalfitano and Jenko on loan to name but a few. Hull do have a lot of resilience and spirit, though, which will be enough to land them a point.
