Fantasy Football Update

So the international break is over, and that means a glorious return to Premier League football! Which also means Friday must be spent agonising over who should be in your team, who should be transferred out, and who should be your captain for the week? That’s right, it’s Fantasy Football!

With a return to EPL, it’s also a return for Fantasy Football

This weekend obviously sees Manchester City visit us at the Emirates, but when two top teams meet is can sometimes be prudent to avoid that match because more points can be lost than won, especially if there’s another 6-1 drubbing from one side to the other.

Southampton players may well be happy coming up against winless Newcastle so picking a few of the players that were left behind may be a solid way to go this week if you’re looking for value.

In terms of the big teams that are going to score highly this week might be a struggle for Chelsea players as they come up against high flying Swansea, but Manchester United could have a high-scoring game against QPR if their big signings all hit the ground running. I still think Herrera is a good buy and definitely the cheapest of the new United signings.

  • Liverpool will be without Daniel Sturridge for the next three weeks so looking at other Liverpool point scorers may be the best way forward. England midfielder Raheem Sterling or Italian livewire Mario Balotelli might be a good swap if you’re after some regular points in the coming weeks.

On the same token any players for QPR should be removed and swapped as soon as possible, whilst cheap Stoke, Leicester, Hull or West Ham defenders might be a good shout as these seem like low scoring games. West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell would be my shout as he is always in with a chance of an assist.

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend of football ahead, it should be a good one!
