EPL Gameweek 6: Do Better Next Time. C+
So we’re once again past an EPL game weekend, but this weekend was the first time I’ve actually been disappointed with the results. Where was the inexplicably high scoring game? Where was the derby fire?
A week of stunning goals but poor results for the neutral
As we all know Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with Spurs in the EPL’s first North London Derby of the year. There was a lot of promise coming into this match but it failed to really provide the glitz and glamour of previous high scoring affairs. Many of the big matches are becoming a lot tenser because managers are aware of how bad it is to lose one of these matches at the start of season. The other derby of the week also proved to be too much of a physical affair, with a Jagielka screamer gaining a point for Everton at Anfield.
Manchester City and Chelsea continued with their strong starts of the season with a 4-2 win over Hull and a 3-0 win over Aston Villa respectively. City lost their 2-0 lead originally but showed their class in front of goal to score 2 more and take the match in comfort, whereas Chelsea never looked threatened during the match and Diego Costa continued to look assured in front of goal again.
The EPL wildcards of the season Leicester failed to keep up their good form with a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, and fellow promoted team Burnley continued to assault the eyes of football fans everywhere with the most boring play ever seen. They have failed to find the net since going ahead against Chelsea in the first match, and succumbed to a 4-0 loss at the hands of West Brom.

Southampton continue to prove that Liverpool bought the wrong players and provided a wonderful goal through Pelle, to beat QPR 2-1 in a pretty standard match. Even the enigma that is Manchester United provided a simple 2-1 win over West Ham, even if Wayne Rooney’s red card did provide some comedic relief in the game. And to round it up Swansea and Sunderland decided to send the crowd to sleep in a 0-0 sraw Burnley would have been proud of.
So for next week, can we have some upsets please? Aston Villa to romp past City? Burnley and Leicester to draw 5-5?
