Arsenal Should Reunite Santi Cazorla and Isco

Everyone knows by now that Mesut Ozil is out until early 2015 and that leaves a great deal of uncertainty around the Arsenal midfield. And with more injuries always trying to poke their heads into the Gunners play, January may be a crucal time for Arsene Wenger to shore up some midfield support and find cover for a missing Ozil.

Marco Reus’s name has been thrown around, as has Julian Draxler’s, but I’m looking outside of Germany for this potential solution.

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Isco fits the bill of Arsene Wenger’s tranfer requirements. He wants out, he’s versatile and he’s young. However, he won’t be cheap, as his buyout clause alone is 30 million pounds.

When Real Madrid added the likes of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos, a lot of their players were pushed down the pecking order. Angel Di Maria packed his bags and threw up the double deuces on his way out the door, and he won’t be the last one.

Isco has a world of talent but he’s never been able to find consistent playing time for Los Blancos. He’s snubbed a move to Manchester CIty in the past but the Premier League is known to be the most competitive league in the world and he would get plenty of playing time at Arsenal.

What makes this transfer a little more likely is the Santi Cazolra connection. Cazorla and Isco had excellent chemistry when they played together at Malaga.

Cazorla is one of the few Arsenal players that is never injured and Isco has very little injury history as well. It may be in the club’s best interest to go nab the young Spaniard, pair him with Cazorla and watch the fireworks ensue. He can be groomed to replace Cazorla in time, but for now he can resume the chemsitry that the duo had in 2011/12.

I understand that defense is the top priority here, but we have money and we have a need. Isco not only provides cover at mid and a direct fill-in for Ozil, but he provides extra competition, extra options, and (I feel like I need to say this again) he’s rarely injured.
