Gonzalo Higuain Waltzing Way Back into Arsenal Transfer Rumors
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal transfer rumors are an interesting breed. Made of equal parts hilarity, annoyance and frustation, they are fully capable of living for eternity. Just when you think they’ve been buried for good, an undead hand reaches out from the ground and reemerges for all to see.
The zombie in this case is Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain was literally putting on his Gunner’s kit in 2013 before Napoli came in, set that kit on fire, and dragged his Argentine behind to Italy to play for them.

Well, now that he’s struggled to do a single constructive thing through seven Serie A games, it’s all of a sudden a sign that Higuain is unsettled and checking ticket prices to make his way to North London.
This is hilarious and completely ill-founded.
Higuain is not coming to Arsenal. We signed Welbeck, who is coming along nicely, and to sign Higuain would push Welbeck out wide, something that neither Welbeck wants or Arsenal needs. Plus, with Giroud set to be back ahead of schedule, we actually, for the first time in the past couple years, do not need a striker.
After Edinson Cavani fell by the wayside (well, not really, as he’s still linked to the Emirates), it became apparent that Wenger has zero intention of signing a big-name striker like Higuain.
And I agree with him, it’s not the lack of a world-class striker that’s holding Arsenal back, it’s a combination of injuries and a shaky defense. Higuain fixes neither of those given that he’s not a doctor nor is he a defender.
If anything, he’ll probably end up on Manchester United, who could be the first team in history to deploy a 2-3-5 formation.
This rumor is about as silly as they come, and there are some seriously silly rumors out there. Don’t get your hopes up (I don’t know why this would anyways), Gonzalo Higuain is not coming to town.
