Lukas Podolski Dismantles Tottenham Rumors, Staying at Arsenal?

It’s always a good time when Lukas Podolski takes to social media. Say what you want about the guy, one thing is certain, and that’s that the left-footed hammer is a funny guy. After his “Where’s my shin-pad” joke, Podolski had set the bar pretty high for his next act, but I’d say he largely lived up to it.

A report emerged from BBC News that Tottenham were lining up a 10 million pound bid for the frustrated bench warmer, but Podolski was quick to squash the possibility, tweeting back “Hell will freeze over before this transfer would happen. #Poldi #aha #AlwaysAGunner #NeverCheatYourClub #AFC #Redarmy”

After a decade of shedding crucial players to rivals, it warms my heart to see an out-of-favor player such as “Poldi” stand up for his club. It shows a strength of character and loyalty, something that is rarely seen in modern sports.

Of course, I was one of the main proponents to see Podolski move on, both for his sake and for Arsenal’s, but I never wished for it to be Tottenham.

The question then arises whether or not Podolski will move at all. He’s declared his loyalty and while actions speak much louder than words, it’s a step towards remaining at a club where he will see very little playing time.

If he stays, he has to see more playing time. He’s looked lost every chance he gets to take the field and that’s probably the frustration taking over, but given enough playing time, he could regain form, and we know how good of a finisher he is.

If no playing time is in the cards, then we might as well sell him while he still has value.
