Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Andre-Pierre Gignac Squabble Opens Door

Any time you get in a fight with a team mate over an opposing player, it’s usually the shortest route to the exit door. Andre-Pierre Gignac did just that when his team mate, Brice Djadjédjé, got in an onfield squabble with Paul-Georges Ntep. Ntep is a friend of Gignac and naturally Djadjédjé didn’t take kindly to his team mate taking his enemy’s side.

It’s even being said that Gignac took a swing at his mate in training.

With Gignac in excellent form (10 goals in 11 matches), while also being at the end of his contract and being French to boot, Arsene Wenger has naturally been linked to the striker. It’ll be a hot pursuit to nab the 28-year old, but in my humble opinion, Arsenal should not and will not be in the chase.

For starters, Gignac is not so different from Olivier Giroud. He’s smaller and more mobile, but older and less of an aerial threat. Giroud has caused enough frustration as is so I can’t see the benefit in adding a doppleganger to the perfectly-haired ‘lamp post.’ Plus, Giroud is way ahead of schedule and I for one cannot wait to see him return to the Emirates.

I’m a big fan of Giroud, he gives his all for the team and his aerial ability has never been up for debate. Plus, with the addition of Danny Welbeck, we have two excellent strikers who can compliment each other nicely (not to mention Alexis Sanchez). We don’t need a striker!

Finally, in case we missed this bit of news, Gignac took a swing at a team mate. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like how that sounds.

Imagine if we were squaring up against Real Madrid and Wilshere and Gareth Bale got into a bit of a squabble. Then Aaron Ramsey stepped in and took Bale’s side and followed up by getting into a boxing match with Wilshere the next day in training. I consider myself one of the biggest Aaron Ramsey fans in the world, but that would severely limit my ability to root for the guy.

It’s not often that I completely dismiss an Arsenal rumor, but I’m giving this one the double thumbs down (and it would be triple if I had three hands). How would your thumbs rate this transfer?
