Arsenal vs Burnley Player Ratings: Alexis the Driving Force Again

facebooktwitterreddit

Arsenal vs Burnley finished in a 3-0 win for the Gunners and it was a fun game to watch. At least the last 30 minutes were. Here are the player ratings.

7.5. Szcezny did all he had to do. He had very few serious threats on goal. Read crosses well and only got himself into one awkward situation, but since it was Burnley, they were unable to convert.  . GK. Arsenal FC. WOJCIECH SZCZESNY

8.5. Absolutely phenomenal day from a 19-year old who is going to be something special. Chambers was everywhere on the right side, marauding wherever he went. He made no noticeable mistakes, crossed the ball brilliantly, found Alexis for an assist and contributed a goal of his own. This kid is going to be something special and he already is. Would have been man of the match, but he plays on the same team as Alexis.. RB. Arsenal FC. CALUM CHAMBERS

CB. Arsenal FC. PER MERTESACKER. 7.7. Did what had to be done, in typical Per fashion. He is an anchor at the back, just as long as he doesn’t have to get in any footraces. Even contributed to a few attacks.

CB. Arsenal FC. NACHO MONREAL. 7.9. I have been hard on Monreal any time he has to play centerback, but he did tremendous today. Read passes incredibly well, marked his men and even displayed a physicality that I never knew he possessed. Looked like a center back, and that’s saying something.

Arsenal FC. KIERAN GIBBS. 8.2. Was refreshing enough just to see him out on the pitch, but his contribution was unreal. He mirrored Calum Chamber’s effectiveness. Made excellent runs and pitched in on all attacks as well. Assisted Alexis for the last goal. Gibbs is a world class talent, now it’s just a matter of staying healthy.. LB

MATHIEU FLAMINI. 7.1. Flamini was alright. He didn’t do much but he didn’t make any blatant mistakes either. I still don’t know why he was starting over Ramsey, but it all worked out.. MID. Arsenal FC

MIKEL ARTETA. 7.4. Arteta isn’t the type of guy that’s going to display a lot of flash and make an obvious impact on the game. But he was steady on the ball, made few mistakes, and aside from an atrocious shot, he was pretty solid until he was taken off for Ramsey in the 63rd minute.. MID. Arsenal FC

The Ox played his heart out today. He mimicked Sanchez pretty admirably and deserved a goal or an assist or something. Was a force throughout the game and only made one really glaring mistake.. MID. Arsenal FC. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN. 8.1

MID. Arsenal FC. SANTI CAZORLA. 5.3. Absolutely atrocious. Had so many chances to score and squandered everyone. He gave away the ball in possession and his passes found no one. I was continuously asking myself why he was still on the pitch.

9.7. This guy is something special. He looked like one of the few Gunners that wanted to win early on. His work rate is unbelievable and no matter what other teams do to contain him, they just can’t. He added two more goals to his tally and it’s very apparent who the sheriff in town is.. MID. Arsenal FC. ALEXIS SANCHEZ

5.6. Welbeck was not much better than Cazorla. Against a foe like Burnley, Welbeck should be establishing dominance, but he missed plenty of opportunities. One of my new ways to rate players is asking “How much did they frustrate Alexis?” Well, Welbeck was guilty of the most frustration caused to our Chilean maestro.. ST. Arsenal FC. DANNY WELBECK

7.3. Came on in the 63rd. It was a nice easy game for Ramsey. Made some good runs and had one stellar shot that was turned away by an unreal Tom Heaton. Good game to get his feet underneath him. Should have been starting for Flamini.. MID. Arsenal FC. AARON RAMSEY

THEO WALCOTT. 7.6. I wanted to give him a 10 just for playing, but he really did play superb for the ten minutes that he had. Meshed with the attack and with Alexis, had a near assist and showed the clever dribbling we’ve been missing. Now we just have to keep him healthy and starting for Cazorla.. MID. Arsenal FC

ST. Arsenal FC. LUKAS PODOLSKI. 7.8. A Podolski in inspired form is a treat to watch. He had two rocket shots that should have been goals but one hit Heaton and one hit the post. Looked so superior to Welbeck and I truly hope he starts on Tuesday. If we can get him in form, we have such a lethal weapon.
