Theo Walcott Proves Worth Immediately, Good Times Ahead
By Josh Sippie
Who hasn’t been awaiting Theo Walcott’s return? From Arsene Wenger to Mesut Ozil, they’ve all be talking about how Walcott will make all the difference. We finally got a chance to see the speedy winger in the last ten minutes against Burnley and it was enough to excite Gunner nation for what’s to come.
Walcott came on for the Ox and it looked like he hadn’t missed nine months of professional football. His dribbling and footwork was pristine, his speed was blatant, his passing was superb and he was robbed of an assist when Podolski slammed his shot into the post off a beautiful cross from Walcott.
He even had an attempt on goal that was ticketed for the top corner but denied by Tom Heaton.

This is what we’ve been waiting for. It already looked as though Walcott and Alexis Sanchez had been playing together for years. They were combining well and those last ten minutes had an incredibly ‘fun’ vibe, something that has been absent so far in the season. The prospect of having Walcott, the Ox, Alexis and Welbeck all on the field at once is incredibly tantalizing and I hope we get to see it soon.
If we can keep Walcott healthy, I don’t see why Arsenal can’t make a run at the title. We’ve been incredibly lackluster thus far, yet we’re still hanging out in fourth place. This has been a year of upsets so far and Arsenal could take advantage. With the fastest attack in the league, they’ll be able to absolutely pick apart opposing defenses, no questions asked.
Next up is Anderlecht. Given Santi Cazorla’s string of irrelevance, I truly hope to see Walcott suiting up on the wing. He may even be needed to give Alexis a break. We’ll just have to see.
There are fun times ahead, Gunners fans.
