Alexis Sanchez Features in Top 7 EPL Signings of 2014

Well another week down and we’ve made it to the 10 game mark in the EPL, with some signings beginning to show exactly why their club’s shelled out for them during the summer transfer window. Obviously there are those that were expected to perform after huge fees, but others also slipped under the radar during the busy window only to prove they had been undervalued by the selling club. Here at Arsenal we’ve seen Alexis Sanchez come into his own in the last few games and hopefully that is the kind of form that’s here to stay, but we’re going to take a look at Alexis and the others that have started to prove they are the important for their team.

Arsenal. ALEXIS SANCHEZ. A+.  Alexis Sanchez moved from Barcelona this summer and despite taking one or two games to get into his stride he is now fully firing on all cylinders. The Chilean has scored 5 goals and assisted one in his last 3 appearances and looks every inch a World Class striker, well worth the money Arsenal paid out for him in the summer. What does he need to do to cement himself as once of the EPL’s best players? Keep playing like he is and there won’t be too many people arguing against it in seasons to come. Arsenal look to have picked up a great player, and with Walcott coming back it could prove to be too much for the opposition to have both of them tearing down the flanks . Winger/Striker

A. Diego Costa arrived at Chelsea after a disappointing end to last season which saw him limp out of the Champions League final and fail quite miserably with Spain in the World Cup, but put that all behind him to start scoring quite freely in the EPL. He currently has 9 goals in his first 8 games and he seems to be the missing ingredient to Chelsea’s title winning formula. Mourinho complained last season at the lack of a true goal scorer and having upgraded from Torres to Costa it really looks to have made Chelsea a bigger title threat and grittier team. Will Costa continue to return more than a goal a game?  . Striker. Chelsea. DIEGO COSTA

Chelsea. CESC FABREGAS. A+. Whilst it breaks my heart to do so he must be included on this list at the moment, because he’s breaking all kinds of records regarding his creative play and Chelsea do not look to be missing Frank Lampard at all. He has provided the passing game to link the strong defence and the flowing attack of Oscar, Hazard and Costa at the front of Chelsea’s formation and quite simply there doesn’t look to be a stronger ‘quaterback’ in the EPL at the moment. In his 10 games in the blue of Chelsea he has assisted 9 and scored 1, already surpassing Chelsea’s leading assist count from last season. Quite simply he is a brilliant player and Chelsea are using him to his full potential.. Centre Midfield

West Ham. DIAFRA SAKHO. A. Sakho and West Ham have both made surprising starts to the EPL this year, with West Ham currently in 5th and Sakho in with a chance of becoming the first player ever to score on their first 7 starts in the EPL. Sakho has played a mssive part in West Ham’s surprising starts with 6 goals in 6 appearances, including a beautiful chip against Liverpool and a towering header when facing Man City. For any striker to score 6 in 6 you’d think the transfer fee would have been large, or his potential had been picked up by many teams. In fact West Ham only went for Sakho after moves for Connor Wickham failed to materialise into a transfer and he only cost the club £3.5m. In terms of value for money he is by far an away the least pricey on this list. Striker

A. Another top signing at a relatively low price, Tadic arrived from FC Twente for a price of around £12m. Many people were unaware of his talent before he came to the EPL but he caught the attention of many when he became only the 5th player in EPL history to assist 4 goals in a single match when Southampton tore apart a sorry looking Sunderland. He also bagged an extra goal in that performance to make it one of the performances of the season so far. He has more than made up for the sale of Lallana in the summer and looks to be the better player in all honesty. Maybe Liverpool got the wrong guy?. Attacking Mifield. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC

A-. Another Southampton buy from the Dutch League, further proof that the new Dutch manager knows exactly what he’s doing regarding his players. The Italian has contributed 6 goals and 2 assists in his first 10 appearances and looks to be a decent striker, but I’ve only given him an A- because I feel he’s a bit of a passenger when the balls not at his feet whilst the others on this list are far more energetic off the ball and contributing further back the pitch. Still, a good buy for the Saints.. Striker. Southampton. GRAZIANO PELLE

A-. You would hope that the British record transfer would appear on this list and here he is, the former Real Madrid man who is one of the few sparks to United’s otherwise unremarkable start to the season. His goal against Leicester was pure genius and he has shown some wonderful sparks of imagination that show his true potential for the Manchester side. However he has failed to shine in the big matches for me and that’s why I think it’s only deserving of an A-. Attacking Midfield. Manchester United. ANGEL DI MARIA

So who do you think has been the best new signing in the EPL so far? Alexis Sanchez? Diego Costa? Or someone I’ve missed off the list?
