Arsenal vs Anderlecht: Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski Must Start
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal vs Anderlecht is on the cards for tomorrow and there is only one thing on my mind: the poor performance of Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla against Burnley and the stunning performance of Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott as subs (I guess that’s two things on my mind, actually).
Cazorla and Welbeck have not been in top form as of late, and that’s reason enough to give them a break Tuesday. It’ll give them some time off and hopefully rest their legs and their minds for Sunday’s match up with Swansea.
Not only that, but resting them allows the likes of Walcott and Podolski to start in their stead, both of whom looked stellar in a mere ten minutes of play.

While it may seem the obvious solution to have guys like Podolski and Walcott on the bench for crunch time, I find it much more prudent to get them in from the start and actually be able to mount a lead. It would do wonders to remind fans what it feels like to be in control of the game.
Neither one is likely to last the 90 but once we have a lead, we can sit on it with late subs. It’s a much more desirable outcome than a nerve-wracking final 10 minutes, saying prayers that someone can scrounge a goal.
I want nothing more than to see Walcott and Alexis Sanchez play together for an extended period of time. This is the perfect opportunity. Anderlecht may have played us well in the previous outing, but they aren’t a team that can do that consistently, and with Walcott out there making runs behind the defense, we could conceivably put them to bed very early.
There you have my reasoning. What do you say, Gooners? Start the dynamic duo or the drab duo? Vote!
