Why is Joel Campbell Still Not Getting Any Playing Time?

About a month ago I realized that Joel Campbell should really be getting some sort of playing time for Arsenal. Since then, nothing has changed.

The spark plug of Costa Rica has played in two games this year, both as a substitute. In each case, while a little reckless, he showed a tenacity that demonstrated how much he wanted to play and how passionate he was about playing for Arsenal. And yet, either Arsene Wenger didn’t notice, or he belives that Tomas Rosicky has a brighter future at the club than Campbell.

I really don’t understand why Cambell is never used. If he isn’t going to be used, why didn’t Wenger allow him to go out on loan in the August transfer window. Benfica was in the running to get his signature, I’m sure that a loan deal could have been arranged. Instead, he is wasting away on our bench, watching helplessly as the Gunners blow games against Anderlecht.

That must really be helping his confidence.

With Theo Walcott back and Serge Gnabry due back soon, what small chance Campbell had of getting playing time has gotten even smaller.

For those that don’t remember, Campbell was the starting striker on a Costa Rican team that turned into the sweethearts of the World Cup. While he only netted one goal and added one assist, that same tenacity and aggression was on display and it proves how useful of a tool he can be.

At only 22 years of age, Joel Campbell needs to be getting experience on the field, not sitting on the bench. Here is just another situation where I can’t help but question Arsene Wenger’s logic.
