Arsenal Injury News: Laurent Kocielny and All the Rest
By Josh Sippie
With a massive upset in the rear view mirror and a crucial match up against Swansea on the cards for Sunday, let’s take a look at who’s fit, who’s nearing fitness, and who is out.
Laurent Kocielny: Perhaps the most craved for return given the collapse the Gunners suffered to Anderlecht. Kocielny’s injury hasn’t been too widely talked about and the latest update is as foggy as it gets. Arsene Wenger told the media that “Koscielny has a little chance to be back after the international break.” I don’t like how that sounds, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Jack Wilshere: Wilshere will be back for Sunday’s match. No doubt he was one of the saltiest Arsenal players on the bench watching his team crumble. My only fear is that he tries to do too much against Swansea.
Mikel Arteta: Arteta aggravated his hamstring yet again against Anderlecht and is expected to be out until after International break. This makes the woes of Arsenal’s midfield even more, well, woeful.
Olivier Giroud: That’s right, the perfectly-haired Frenchman is in the immediate injury report. Giroud will rejoin training next week and I, for one, am incredibly excited for his return. Whether that turns to frustration or elation is still up for debate.
The injury situation at Arsenal is getting better. It’s clear that Shad Forsythe is doing exactly what we brought him here to do. It’s been amazing how many guys are getting back ahead of schedule. Now we just need Arsene Wenger to spend some money and for this team to remember how to play and everything will be peachy in North London.
