Arsenal Doesn’t Need Morgan Schneiderlin, Aaron Ramsey is Better

Aaron Ramsey has fallen under a lot of criticism lately. He’s the sole recipient of the majority of the blame for our collapse against Anderlecht, and he’s been called out by former Gunner’s stars and Arsene Wenger himself. Naturally, people are looking for answers in the transfer window and the name that comes up more often than not to solve all of Arsenal’s problems is Morgan Schneiderlin, who’s been ravaging the pitch for Southampton this year.

But hold that thought. Using Squawkas player comparison tool, when putting Ramsey next Schneiderlin, the key statistics show that Ramsey is the superior player in more facets that you’d think.

According to Squawka, Ramsey is the better player in possession, on attack on on defense, as his overall score outweighs the Southampton product.

The statistics don’t lie. Aaron Ramsey is better in some of the key places that Arsenal need the most. While no one can doubt that Arsenal could use another signing or two, they should be focused on adding a holding midfielder like Grzegorz Krychowiak, who’s got the physical presence to be an imposing defender.

Schneiderlin can contribute defensively, but he’s more of the box to box type that Jack Wilshere and Ramsey already provide.

While neither one of the two’s defensive stats stand out as stellar, it’s Ramsey’s whose overall defensive score is superior to the pursued Southampton midfielder.

We know that Ramsey is struggling right now. He knows that he’s struggling. But we saw what he was capable of last year and he can regain that form again. He may be trying too hard to score but that’ll all fade when he gets out of this slump he’s in.
