The England and Arsenal front man has been in decent form during the international break however he was unable to continue his impressive goalscoring run for England but he did show some good signs. Once or twice he had a good effort saved by the Scotland keeper and he looks to be wellon his way to proving himself as the first choice England partner to Rooney. Another injury to Sturridge will only strengthen his claim to the role.
Another good point that I have to say about Welbeck is his willingness to get stuck in as a front-man, and if Wenger ever decides to actually address defensive tactics I genuinely think Welbeck will be the perfect man to instigate a pressing from the front tactic.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Arsenal winger opened the scoring for England with a beautifully judged header. Yes, that’s right, a header. The winger admitted after the game he was surprised to score a header because he doesn’t score many like that but it was a good finish and anyone coming back from international duty having picked up a goal has to be be in fine confidence and the Ox will be no different.
Hopefully Chamberlain will still be in the team because I think he can add a lot of attacking drive to any team, especially when he is deployed out wide and allowed to take on defenders one-on-one, where his pace and skill can show through.

Jack Wilshere
Once again he was England’s best player. England manager Roy Hodgson stated that Wilshere can be England’s answer to Andrea Pirlo in years to come and although giving him a title that big may prove to be too much for any player, you can certainly see what Hodgson was talking about when you saw his performance last night.
Even ignoring the beautiful laced ball with which he picked out Oxlade Chamberlain for England’s first goal he played one of the best games I’ve ever seen someone play in an England shirt in regards to the amount he controlled the game. Surely he has to continue playing this role for Arsenal as it would give us exactly what we need right now.
Wilshere with Flamini in the holding roles would give Arsenal both an enforcer and a game controlling midfielder that would be seriously impressive. Combine Wilshere with a decent young enforcing midfielder and there’s a combination at the back of a midfield 5 that could be at Arsenal for years to come.
Wilshere even did a good enough job breaking up the Scottish midfield at the back of the England diamond so putting him with someone could be exactly what we need to give the Arsenal midfield that much needed grist at the end of matches that we’ve been missing.
