Thierry Henry Announces Desire To Manage Arsenal

Yesterday we brought you news that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was stepping away from professional football to take a break as a pundit, but today he has announced further Arsenal ambitions. The legend himself  has stated that he wants to manage Arsenal in the future.

Let’s put this into perspective. First off this is going to be some way off, Thierry Henry is not suddenly going to be announced tomorrow as taking over from Wenger. Wenger still has years to run on his contract and Henry still doesn’t have his coaching badges, which will take a while to obtain.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

For the time being Henry has accepted a contract with Sky Sports to be a pundit and will look to achieve his coaching badges when possible. He has stated that he will work towards his coaching badges working with Arsenal, so at least he can give the current Arsenal strikers a point in the right direction towards dominating the EPL scoring charts.

In an interview with French magazine l’Equipe, Wenger talked about Thierry Henry working at Arsenal.

"“As well as his extraordinary passion for football, he always showed an incredible insight in his judgement of players. He has a real ability to unearth talent,” Wenger told L’Equipe.“Thierry is blessed with a strong personality and he could get angry, but once he had refound his calm, he was always very clear-headed.“Ninety per cent of the time, it was a pleasure and 10 per cent we could feel the little differences in our view of things.”"

So it looks like Henry will be coming back to Arsenal at some point, whether that be as a scout, coach or future manager. In the near future it is likely that we will see the legend back on the training ground, and I for one would love to see him made a permanent member of the coaching staff in the future.
