West Ham’s Arsenal Song Tells Of Arsenal Emotions
Arsenal are no strangers to seeing players disappear to other clubs and then turn up at the Emirates on the opposing side in the form of their life. However to see a player in a West Ham squad that we’ve let go that would be exactly what we need right now is a little strange. Alex Song has been controlling West Ham’s progress in the Premier League this season and quite simply it’s a bit gutting to see him turning in World Class performances.
However the confident midfielder, who was recently left out of the Cameroon AFCON squad as a boost to the hammers, is arguably in the form of his life and has recently stated that it is because of Arsenal that he is the player he is today.
"Talking to SkySports Alex Song said said:Always, this big family will be in my heart. I’ll never forget because what I am now is because of Arsenal, but now it’s important to play against them.“We’ll enjoy the game, it’s not easy when you play your old team. I just have to do my job.“Right now, I’m a West Ham player and will focus on that game. We know it’s not easy, but I will try to help my team win the game.”“At Christmas, you don’t have time to rest, don’t have time to enjoy the party, but the party is not important. The thing is you have to enjoy the game.“Chelsea attack together and defend together. At the moment, I would say Chelsea will win the league.“When you see the way they play, they are a strong team.”"
But has he been overly influential as far as statistics concerned, or is it a more stealthy help that he provides?
On the face of it, Song has been completely absent from the games. He has 0 shots on target and 0 shots off target (5 blocked), 0 assists and a pass accuracy rate of only 78%. Not really what you want from a main man.
However anyone watching West Ham and Alex Song have noticed how he has taken charge of the midfield and West Ham’s more possession based game. He has also been fairly solid, winning 52% of all duels and falling to 0 defensive errors so far this season.
Will Song return to haunt Arsenal a few days after Christmas, or will we prove we’re better off without him?
