Krystian Bielik to Join Arsenal’s First Team Squad

“I’m going to London to fulfill my dreams. I hope I will become an Arsenal player soon,” Krystian Bielik told Legia Warsaw’s official website today. All that’s left is for the 17-year old Polish wonderkid to complete a medical at Arsenal and he will officially be Arsene Wenger’s first signing of this now-half-done January transfer window.

It may be hard to get excited over a 17 year old, but if you were ever going to get excited over such a young player, this is the guy to do it for.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Bielik is 6’2″ and  still has time to grow. He’s being compared to Patrick Vieira. He was worth 2.3 million pounds to Arsene Wenger, the most frugal man on the face of the planet. Wenger is the scrooge of the transfer window, always pinching his pennies, but for Bielik, he sent three offers, upping it after each rejection.

Wenger is a great judge of talent, and as such, it’s suddenly becoming easier to get excited about this young Pole.

At 17 years old, he’s going to join Arsenal’s first team and not go out on loan, which is just another testament to how highly Arsene Wenger thinks of him. With him and Gedion Zelalem, both 17, Arsenal’s midfield appears to be in good hands for years to come.

But could Wenger have plans to get him actual first team action right away?

We’ve seen Zelalem feature for the first-team Gunners late in games, so maybe Wenger is so invested in this kid that he sees him as a solution much sooner than we could imagine. Given that he’s only ever played in Poland, it’ll be interesting to see how quickly he can get acclimated to the Premier League.
