Kevin De Bruyne an Overpriced Luxury, Not Needed at Arsenal
By Josh Sippie
20 million pounds, they told us, nothing more. So the first Arsenal transfer rumors we heard this winter were 64 million pound double bids for Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan and 50 million pound transfer bids for Edinson Cavani. Makes sense right?
Now we have a new rumor to add to the list of impossibilities: Kevin De Bruyne. Price? 25 million pounds.

I haven’t taken a math course in years, but 25 is still bigger than 20. So, price makes it a no go, what else does?
Positioning.
De Bruyne is an attacking midfielder/winger. What is the one thing Arsenal has a surplus of? Exactly what De Bruyne plays.
What else?
He already flopped in the Premier League with Chelsea. Wenger certainly would have seen this and taken ample notes, being the meticulous man that he is. Wenger doesn’t take risks. Especially overpriced risks that aren’t even in a position we need.
Certainly that’s all. Anything else?
The only “interest” shown by any club whatsoever was reported by De Bruyne’s agent when he said “I know that a few clubs are interested in him” (Telegraph). What player doesn’t have a few clubs interested in him?
Not only that, but Wolfsburg is currently in second in the Bundesliga so they aren’t exactly chomping at the bit to dismiss a young talent like De Bruyne, who has six goals and twelve assists.
If you’re still not convinced, I don’t know what else you could want. De Bruyne isn’t going to become a Gunner. Just like Cheick Tiote won’t. Let’s keep focused on actual rumors with some backing, like Gabriel Paulista.
