Verratti is a special talent. He had been linked to Arsenal for the past couple weeks, but smashed those rumors when he said he wasn’t going to move to England this year.

So why is it still on this list?

Because just like any good Arsenal transfer rumor, the player stating it isn’t going to happen doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen.

Expected to draw a fee of around 40 million pounds, the 22 year old would be a smart buy for literally anyone, and Arsene Wenger has been known to pull magic from his hat from time to time.

With the injury concerns over Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey and the aging Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta, it may become a necessity to bulk up the midfield. We have plenty of prospects that could fill the gap, but a quick fix never hurt anyone.

That being said, Verratti said he’d only consider a move to Serie A. The Express quoted him as saying, “I’ll go when the directors let me know that I’m surplus to requirements. I’ve always said that I’ll play in Serie A one day, but it won’t be for a long time.”

Perhaps we can put a fork in this rumor then? I’d say so.
