Andre-Pierre Gignac

Remember all those points I made about why I don’t want to see Mario Mandzukic come to Arsenal? Well, reuse those points here, and add the following.

First of all, all the ‘boosts’ that outlets like talkSPORTS are speaking of as to the likelihood of suitors signing Gignac revolve around him falling out with his manager. I don’t consider that a boost. I consider it a sign of bad character. Not because it happened once, but because it has happened before.

In 2011 he was sent to the reserves for falling out with his manager (SkySports) and it doesn’t look like the attitude has left him.

And not only does Gignac not get along with his managers, he also doesn’t get along with his team mates, as he has been in reported spats with Brice Dja Djedje and Florian Thauvin. The Djedje confrontation was the result of Brice making a rash tackle against one of Gignac’s International team mates (via Goal.com).

Whatever the case, that’s four known fall outs in less than four years. That’s not the kind of player you want on your team. Marseille is one of the main teams competing for the Ligue 1 title and Gignac is having fall out after fall out. Usually success has a way of taming these types of things, but for Gignac, there appears to be no taming.

Say what you want, but I don’t want a shorter, unproven Olivier Giroud with a bad attitude on my club, and that’s what Gignac is.
