And so begins again the eternal struggle of me always picking Kieran Gibbs because he’s superior to Nacho Monreal. Monreal didn’t look good against Monaco either. He was outdone by Gibbs and Gibbs only had a few minutes late in the game to impress.
It seems like an easy decision. Gibbs speed allows him to recover on defense and his creativity allows him to be a legitimate threat on offense. Monreal is a good backup, but again, nothing more. The job should absolutely belong to Gibbs.
