Which Arsenal Man Impressed the Most On International Break?

With the International Break winding down and no injuries to speak of, it has to appear as a success from an Arsenal standpoint. Many Gunners featured for their respective nation and many looked absolutely brilliant. However, many failed to show as well.

Alexis Sanchez featured, as exhausted as he was, for Chile at his adopted home of the Emirates. The Arsenal English contingent was in full force for the Three Lions and we witnessed yet another powerful international performance from Danny Welbeck, who just can’t seem to translate his international successes to club football.
The main man Olivier Giroud put up another goal against Denmark to continue his insane streak of goal scoring. Mesut Ozil played a full ninety in Germany’s draw with Australia, with his claim to fame being a spout of foul language to referee Michael Oliver. He also played a full game against Georgia. Laurent Koscienly showed up for France alongside Raphael Varane and he looked quite prominent as well, forming an excellent partnership with his centre-back mate, as he tends to do wherever he goes.

Not all Gunner impressed, however. Theo Walcott was very lackluster again, starting in the match against Italy and playing 54 minutes. He failed to make himself known while on the pitch, much like what he’s been doing at Arsenal. He had the fewest touches and only made seven passes, although he did complete them all. Santi Cazorla was a bit more effective, but even he couldn’t save Spain from being downed (yet again) by the Netherlands.
With the team coming back together for club football against Liverpool in a crucial match this coming weekend, we take a look at who was the most dominant force for their international squad. International break can be a tough time to continue one’s form, given the team and style changes, but a lot of Arsenal players did well. Some even raised their standards a bit, looking to carry their international success on to club success – and what a time to do so, as we will absolutely need all three points against Liverpool.
