Sergio Aguero vs Alexis Sanchez

Sergio Aguero is always in the conversation for the PFA and that alone is testament to the kind of player he is. But the argument against Aguero is pretty similar to the one against Kane. He’s a striker, so his overall contribution is less than Alexis and while his .80 goals per 90 is pretty impressive, it’s still the only place where he has the upper hand on Alexis.

Another argument against Aguero is how much his team relied on him. No doubt Manchester City rely on Sergio Aguero an immense amount, but City also have Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and Wilfried Bony in the striker category, so if Aguero were to have to miss a few, it’s not like City would derail (like they are now).

But Alexis Sanchez was absolutely crucial to Arsenal’s successes. As I’ve said at least a handful of times, he kept Arsenal relevant by himself. If he had gotten hurt during that first stretch, we would have been in serious trouble.

And then there’s the whole “where is their team” argument, which Alexis wins as well, because Manchester City is absolutely horrid lately.
