He’s too valuable for a free transfer down the road

Arsenal are flirting with seeing Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini leave on free transfers when their contracts run out, but to do the same with Santi Cazorla down the road doesn’t make the most sense. It’s in this area that we’re going to see where Arsene Wenger draws the line between player loyalty and the business side of football.

No one at Arsenal wants to see Cazorla leave, but if it comes down to cashing in on him earlier than we’d like or seeing him leave for free in a year or two, what would you choose?

The die-hard supporters are obviously going to say keep him without a second thought. But is that really what’s best for the team? Transfermarkt values Cazorla at 26 million pounds – that’s a lot of money for a midfielder going on 31.
