Arsenal’s Best Possible Starting Squad to Face Manchester United
By Josh Sippie
Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal
I’m inching ever closer to making Kieran Gibbs my first-choice left back again, but he’ll get his shot in the FA Cup final. Nacho Monreal was one of a host of players that was less than impressive against Swansea City, but that’s not really saying much, nobody impressed.
However, Monreal still has to feel that with each subpar performance, Kieran Gibbs is chomping at the bit to get his cleats back onto the pitch. Monreal is still the more consistent of the two and until that consistency looks in serious jeopardy, he’s going to continue getting the call, as well he should.
At the other end, Hector Bellerin was subpar as well against the Swans and with Mathieu Debuchy the senior statesman at right back, Bellerin may find his job even more in jeopardy than Monreal. Bellerin is still young and prone to some lapses in form whereas Debuchy has been around the game so long that he knows how to prevent such lapses.
Bellerin will still get the call though, his overall contributions are still making him the first-choice right back for this club. The Spaniard is just too valuable on offense and defense to be left out.
