David Ospina

Ospina took over as the Arsenal No. 1 keeper following Wojciech Szczesny’s embarrassing affair against Southampton on New Years. After shutting out Hull City in the FA Cup, Ospina remained in goal for the Premier League clash against Stoke City where he surrendered his favorite number of goals: Zero.

In fact, after the New Years takeover, David Ospina went 360 minutes without surrendering a goal.

Then came Tottenham, who put down Arsenal 2-1. However, that would be the last time David Ospina would give up two goals all season (let’s just ignore that Monaco game for now).

Ask anyone who they think the best keeper in the Premier League is based off of this season and they’d probably tell you one of two names: David De Gea or Thibaut Courtois. Well, take a look at these comparisons (per 90 minutes played, via Squawka.com):

You don’t have to look hard to see who the superior keeper is. While no one will give David Ospina the credit he deserves, it’s quite clear that he deserves immense credit for the state Arsenal is in. After all, you can’t lose if the opposition doesn’t score and Ospina is one of the best in the world at making sure that the opposition goes home frustrated.
