Transfer rumors effect just about every team out there, but Arsenal’s always seem to be the worst. Whether that’s because Arsenal never drop the hundreds of millions of pounds that Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City do or because Arsenal are still linked to hundreds of millions of pounds of transfers, the rumors seem to never stop.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Guys like Edinson Cavani and Sergio Ramos are continuously tied to Arsenal when their price tag far exceeds what Arsene Wenger would ever dare to spend.

That being said, Arsenal do make some big moves from time to time. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were big moves, but those were two in two years. The trend would therefore suggest that Arsenal are due for another big move this year. The links are there, but only a few of them actually make sense.

As far as Arsenal transfers go, there are some similarities among them. Usually the player is either wanting away from his squad or has fallen out of favor. He’s usually at a budget price, young and versatile. Sometimes they have pre-established connections within the Arsenal squad already. Most importantly, they have to play the link-up style of football that Arsenal has nearly perfected.

Sometimes they only have to be French.

Look at Mesut Ozil for instance. He had a strong German contingent at Arsenal before making the move. It was a record signing and it was used to fill the vacated spot left by Cesc Fabregas.

Now consider Alexis Sanchez. He was fading at Barcelona and wanted away. His play style fit perfectly with Arsenal’s and he had very few distractions off the field.

Danny Welbeck was a wantaway who was never really given the chance he thought he deserved. Arsenal had a huge English contingent and although it took to the very last minute (and then some), Arsenal was able to pull it off.

So as you can see, Arsene Wenger does make moves. With that in mind, here are the top five rumors to keep an eye on this summer.
