4. Victor Wanyama

The last time a player blatantly stated how much they liked Arsenal and how badly they wanted to play for them, it never exactly materialized (Moussa Sissoko). However, Victor Wanyama may be a different story.

Wanyama was very clear when he pointed out that “it would be nice to move to Arsenal,” (via ESPNFC). However, he placed the responsibility on Southampton’s shoulders and left it at that. Probably the wise move.

Victor Wanyama is an athlete. At 6’2″ and 168 pounds, he is a physical specimen that, if paired with Francis Coquelin, would provide the most fearsome holding midfield duo since… well since Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva. Being 6’2″, he also has an affinity for winning aerial duels and provides another all-important forehead for our corner kickers to aim for.

While he may not be ready to be a bonafide starter, especially with Francis Coquelin holding down the role, the Kenyan is only 23 years old and would fit into this golden age of Arsenal midfielders. He has the ability to score, something Coquelin has yet to discover and is a pretty dire dribbling threat as well.

One area that Wanyama struggles in is the same area that Coquelin struggled in – fouls. But if Arsene Wenger could cool the yellow card frequency of Coquelin then surely he could do the same with Victor Wanyama.

The cost wouldn’t be much either. Transfermarkt has his value at between 10 and 15 million pounds, a very affordable price for Arsenal.
