3. Morgan Schneiderlin

Speaking of deals that were all but completed, Morgan Schneiderlin was said to have completed a move to Arsenal that would go through in the summer. However, now that the price tag of 25 million pounds has really settled in, Arsenal is not as keen as they once were (via the Daily Mail).

The logic behind forgetting this move is the same logic behind forgetting William Carvalho. Why spend 25 million on a position that is already well-manned? Especially when cheaper (and better) options are available.

Schneiderlin’s team mate Victor Wanyama is only going for 10-15 million and even Arturo Vidal can be got for less than 25 million and he’s a much better player.

Schniederlin is a great player and it’s a shame that Southampton are going full fire-sale again, but Arsenal has no need for him. He doesn’t provide anything that Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin don’t already provide and statistics will back that up. The only thing he really adds is size, but paying 25 million for size is a silly endeavor.
