2. Petr Cech

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse by continuously stating how Arsenal don’t need Petr Cech, but the more the pundits stump up how much we need him, the more I feel the need to kick them in the shins to shut them up.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Arsenal do not need a keeper. Unless that keeper is Claudio Bravo, Buffon, Manuel Neuer or a complete game changer, but that’s not going to happen. Wojciech Szczesny is a world-class keeper, one bad season can’t change that. Jans Lehmann had a bad season too, but we still think rather highly of him.

Not only that, but David Ospina was bought by Arsene Wenger to be our goal keeping competition and he’s provided that and more. For Arsene Wenger to go out and sign Petr Cech now would be like getting a replacement and for Wenger to sign a replacement, it’s like him admitting defeat. That doesn’t happen.

Nor should it happen. David Ospina was one of the best goal keepers in the world this season. It’s been pointed out numerous times, yet people still claim that he isn’t a number one keeper. Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher even made the (how to say it nicely) stupid remark that just because Ospina was signed as a No. 2 keeper, that means he can’t be a No. 1 keeper.

The logic there is inspiring.

It’s like people are conjuring up reasons to discredit what David Ospina has done this year and it’s getting downright annoying. We have a splendid goal keeping duo and it would be foolish to upset that.
