Bizarre Timeline for Wojciech Szczesny’s Bizzare Summer at Arsenal
By Josh Sippie
After co-winning the Golden Gloves award with Joe Hart for goal keeping brilliance in the 2013/14 season, the future seemed set for Wojciech Szczesny. He was young, a world class keeper, and still had tons of room to grow and become an even better shot-stopper. There is no way he could have imagined what would unfold.

After being the victim of a bit of Russian Roulette of defensive blunders, Wojciech Szczesny was left high and dry to shoulder the weight of the ridicule from Arsenal’s horrific 2014/15 start. It got even more horrific when Southampton made him look like a blind schoolgirl on New Years Day.
After being caught smoking in the shower and being fined, the Pole found himself a nice comfy Emirates chair and popped a squat on the bench, putting up his hood and watching as David Ospina wowed the socks off of the world and yet received no credit for doing so.
As if things could not get any stranger, this summer has been a bit of a bizarre one for Wojciech Szczesny. Here’s how it unfolded:
Back in the professional world, former Polish keeper Jan Tomaszewksi appeared out of the woodwork screeching that his countryman had been lied to by Arsene Wenger and that he had been promised more playing time and a fair shot to fight for his place on the team (via

Again feeling like he had nothing to lose, Wojciech Szczesny videoed himself going through a water slide, however, despite what the rumors tell you, his new baby was not with him for the aquatic journey.
Finally, whilst missing his tiger baby, the Pole filmed himself getting his swell on at the gym, hoping to prove that, since he works out, he is ready to challenge Petr Cech.
The summer still has another month to go, although, barring interstellar travel, I am not sure what Szczesny can do to step up his timeline thus far.
One thing is certain though, Wojciech Szczesny has a world of talent. While I do not think that he will be able to challenge Petr Cech this season, a year learning from a legend like Cech could turn Szczesny into a legend as well. He could very well put up a fight to take the No. 1 spot in the 2016/17 season.
