Muzzi Ozcan, an agent in the footballing world, has delivered a tweet that will perk up the ears of Gooner’s around the world. Take a look:

While this could all be broad speculation in the hopes that Arsenal do nab someone and prove this Ozcan guy right, the chances that Arsenal are on the brink of a big signing is not too impossible of a concept to fathom.

First, lets consider the source, because it was not too long ago that Arsenal were sealing the deal for Arturo Vidal per a very reliable source.

Muzzi Ozcan’s Mondial Sports Management is one of the top sports agency firms. They represent players all across the world of football, including Nemaja Matic and Edinson Cavani (via IBT).

So while his background would lead us to believe that maybe this Ozcan character would know if a deal is on the way, he would by no means know if a deal is complete before the other side did as well. Need I restate the situation with Arturo Vidal?

That being said, with 40 million pounds left to spend and no gaping needs to cover (other than perhaps a defensive mid), Arsenal have some wiggle room to maybe splurge a bit, despite it being completely against Arsene Wenger’s personality to do so. Arsenal could always use some more depth and more internal competition so lets consider who this tweet may be in reference to.

The first name that popped into my head was Karim Benzema. It does not appear that Ozcan has too big of a connection to Benzema, but the French striker has been tipped for an Arsenal move for quite some time and  it would be a perfect fit. His price ranges from 17 to 35 million pounds, so he would qualify as a big signing and depending on the return, could very easily be the signing of the season.

Also, we must consider that Ozcan was speaking about his firm’s own client, Edinson Cavani. Arsenal have seemingly been linked with Cavani since he came out of the womb, so here we are 28 years later wondering if all those scouting reports are finally going to send him to Arsenal.

Maybe this big rumored signing won’t be a striker, though, seeing as how it is debatable if Arsenal even need a striker. Maybe it finally is the conclusion of Arturo Vidal. Another name that comes to mind is Julian Draxler. He was heavily linked but, despite no deterrents, has faded rather quietly.

Some names I do not think this is in relation to? Angel Di Maria, Mario Gotze, Pedro. Both Di Maria and Gotze do not represent what an Arsenal player usually is, while Pedro would not be a huge signing, despite the new and ‘improved’ price.

The coming days are coming and they will continue coming, so we will see if Muzzi Ozcan can deliver some truth where others could not.
