William Carvalho

As sources are reporting that the fee for Portuguese holding midfielder William Carvalho could be upward of £30 million, it seems like a massive risk for Arsène Wenger to dish out so much money for an unproven young player.

Overall, he is inexperienced. The fact that Carvalho has only appeared 13 times for the Portuguese senior team is an indication of that.

Additionally, the Premier League and the Portuguese League are completely different. Yes, people are sick of hearing that the English game is difficult to adjust to, but it isn’t often that a player from the Portuguese League comes in to make a huge difference in the Premier League.

Evidently, the 23-year-old has some fantastic qualities that no one can deny — most importantly his physicality, which Arsenal have lacked in the past.

But overall, £30 million is way too expensive for someone unproven.
