Jose Callejon

This new link went ahead and skipped all the infant stages of a rumored transfer and went straight to the ‘done deal’ stage. The Metro rather brashly reported that Jose Callejon wants a move to Arsenal and that the 17.9 million pound move is underway and that all that needs to be done is some paper signings.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Callejon is 28 years old and is quite the talent on the wings. He has superb pace and has managed to net 32 goals in two seasons at Napoli.

This rumored move is about as practical as signing Arda Turan would have been. Arsenal may seemingly have a void at right wing but that void only exists due to injuries. If Arsenal stay healthy that void is filled.

Faouzi Ghoulam

Is Arsenal the new an improved Napoli? Maybe. With links to Gonzalo Higuain, Lorenzeo Insigne, Marek Hamsik, Jose Callejon and Faouzi Ghoulam, it looks like Arsenal sent a scout to Stadio San Paolo with the instructions ‘anything, really.’

That being said, Ghoulam is the one transfer rumor emerging out of the Italian side that actually makes sense. Arsenal are pretty set every across the pitch, but if you were absolutely forced to peg an area that could use some help, left back would have to be either the first or second choice.

Whereas right back is manned by the rising star Hector Bellerin, the seasoned veteran Mathieu Debuchy and the versatile Calum Chambers, left back is manned by the injury-prone duo of Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal, neither of whom has been able to establish a firm grasp on the position in their time there.

There is no guarantee that Ghoulam could succeed where they have failed, but for 8 million pounds, a little added competition could not hurt. Plus, one of the main positives that Ghoulam brought last year to Napoli was consistency on a team that had none. A little consistency at left back would be nice at Arsenal.

The Daily Star indicates that Arsenal are just a few days away from landing the Algerian’s signature.

Kostas Manolas

This potential move is managing to hang around. The Greek defender has shined bright (like a diamond) for Roma, putting up 49 appearances and scoring four times.

Extra defensive depth never hurt anyone, but you have to wonder if Arsene Wenger is really in the market for more center backs after signing Gabriel Paulista last summer.

Not only that, but the Independent is indicating that he would cost 21.6 million pounds. That is probably not going to fly.

Morgan Schneiderlin

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

The rumored talks between Morgan Schneiderlin and Arsenal had seemingly subsided. But then, out of nowhere, it was reported by the Metro that the Frenchman was down to choosing between United and Arsenal. United have of course just nabbed Sebastian Schweinsteiger and Arsenal have yet to sign any outfield players, so on that information alone, Arsenal appears the better option.

However, it looked like this move had broken down long ago and I will not be surprised when he lands somewhere other than the Emirates.

Marco Reus

Arsenal have a long history with pursuing Marco Reus (or any Dortmund product, really) and it appears that that linkage is slowly fading, as Liverpool have stepped up to bid 46 million pounds for the German international, as reported by the Metro.

The fact of the matter is that Arsenal do not need to spend that kind of money on, well, anyone.
