Aubameyang, Karim Benzema and the Latest Arsenal Transfer Rumors
By Josh Sippie
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Another day, another Dortmund link. Arsenal have been linked to Aubameyang for quite some time and the deal as of yet has not fallen through. While the majority of Dortmund players have displayed admirable loyalty by committing themselves to the future of the squad despite this year’s hiccup, Aubameyang is still a hotly-pursued commodity.

Reports from Fox Sports indicate that that the Gabonese striker will cost over 30 million pounds. When you compare that price to what it would cost to nab Alexandre Lacazette or Karim Benzema, the move just does not make much sense.
Aubameyang is a great striker with the versatility to split out wide, but so is Theo Walcott.
Karim Benzema
Arsene Wenger has denied making a 40 million pound bid for Benzema, but in the same statement, he did not rule out the possibility of the move. He merely said that as of now, nothing was in the works. It may seem like a minuscule detail, but Arsene Wenger chooses his words carefully. If there was no chance of this deal happening, he would have told us there was no chance of this deal happening.
Moral of the story? There is a chance of this deal happening.
Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon boss Hubert Fornier has made a very telling statement in regards to the transfer of his prized possession, Alexandre Lacazette. While Fornier originally said that he has no worries about the French striker leaving, he added that “if someone offers €50m or €60m, I imagine that I will only have to wave him off and wish him luck.”
From Euros to pounds, that puts Lacazette’s price tag at around 35-40 million pounds. That is a lot of money but it is not the unreasonable amount of money that Lyon were looking for not so long ago.
Daniele Rugani
According to various sources, Arsenal bid 15 million pounds for the young Juventus defender but were immediately sent packing as the Champions’ League runner ups appear uninterested in selling their promising defender.
Alessio Romagnoli
Staying on the topic of young defenders, Arsenal are also after Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli. The youngster plays alongside Kostas Manolas, another one of Arsenal’s targets on the back line.

Arturo Vidal
Various sources are indicating that Vidal was indeed set to come to Arsenal but they withdrew their offer following the Chilean’s drunk driving accident during the Copa America.
Arsenal are known for maintaining strict policies over their players, as we have seen in regards to Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny and their smoking habits.
Julian Draxler
Draxler continues to be linked to the Gunners, but with a price tag that still hangs out in the 30 million pound range, such a move is never going to pan out. Draxler may be young and talented but he is unproven and Wenger is not going to shovel money into the pockets of an unproven luxury.
