5 Arsenal Players at Risk of Down Years
By Josh Sippie
Just a week ago, I reviewed five Arsenal men that were primed to have breakout years for the Gunners. Most of them were young and up and coming, but some were guys getting ready to hit their prime. However as it is with most things in life, not everything is wine and roses (that’s a saying right?).
When some guys break onto the scene, other guys tend to fall off the scene, after all the scene is only big enough for a finite number of people. This year will see a lot of guard-changing as some once-vital Arsenal players start to fade into the background.

Whether it be age, new arrivals, or performance dips, just about everyone gets shoved into the background at some point in their career.
Noticeable absentees on this list include Mathieu Flamini, who is probably set to move elsewhere. However, even if he doesn’t he was already irrelevant as of this past season and figures not to factor much into Arsenal’s plans. While I still remain a fan of the rambunctious midfielder, he pales in comparison to Francis Coquelin.
I have also left off Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina. Not going to lie, it was mainly because I did not want to touch that situation, as it is impossible to read into who serves what role and who is staying and who is going. Call me a coward if you want.
So now that we know who is not on the list, lets get moving with the guys that did make the list, starting with a rather shocking number five.
