The transfer window is getting heated in North London, and the eerie silence is only intensifying that heat. Arsene Wenger has yet to spend a dime since bringing in Petr Cech as the sun rose on the transfer window, yet there are so many links that appear to have serious potential.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Not only that, but Arsenal director Lord Harris has spoken out about Arsenal’s financial clout and who they could sign, if they wanted to. Essentially: Anyone. Wenger has the freedom to spend what he wants as the club completely trusts his judgment.

It is also still unclear what positions Arsenal will go after. Striker is the hottest topic of the transfer window at the Emirates, but you still have to wonder if Wenger has any intention of blocking off Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Chuba Akpom from potentially claiming the role for themselves.

That being said, there are plenty of epic striker options available for the Gunners, should they decide that outside help is needed.

The midfield appears to be the least of Wenger’s worries, despite the outcry for some Francis Coquelin back up. Arsenal lack a real physical enforcer aside from the newly-emerged Frenchman and should the worst happen (injury), they may be left out to dry.

But given that striker is the hot topic, lets start there.
